Woman's body found on canal bank

Northern Constabulary sign Police have launched an inquiry after a woman's body was found on the banks of the Caledonian Canal in Inverness.

The body was discovered in the Dalneigh area early on Saturday morning by a member of the public.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said enquiries were being made to establish the woman's identity but there were no suspicious circumstances.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw a woman walking a dog between 1500 GMT on Friday and 0800 GMT on Saturday.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
