The former leader of the Scottish Socialist Party Tommy Sheridan is to meet his lawyer over newspaper allegations about his private life.
The News of the World has reported allegations about Mr Sheridan, who has promised to launch a libel action against the newspaper.
The Glasgow MSP stood down last week to be a "good dad" and supportive husband to his pregnant wife and future child.
He has steadfastly denied all the allegations about his private life.
"I will fight to clear my name until my dying breath"
Mr Sheridan announced his resignation as the party's convener on Wednesday.
He said he wanted to spend time with his wife and be a "hands-on" father but did not rule out a return as party leader in the future.
Speaking as he arrived for a meeting of the party's ruling executive committee in Glasgow on Sunday, Mr Sheridan said: "The News of the World and I will be in court."
He has staunchly denied claims that he has been unfaithful to his wife Gail, who he married in 2000.
'Utter nonsense'
Speaking on Scottish Television's Seven Days programme, he said: "It is complete and utter nonsense and I will fight to clear my name until my dying breath.
"This is very upsetting for my wife. We will fight this all the way, it is garbage.
"I have never had an affair.
"Gail is upset, she is very upset. She's actually more upset for me."
The editor of the Scottish News of the World, Bob Bird, said his newspaper stood "100%" behind its story .
Official backing
Meanwhile, the SSP's execuitve committee has given its backing to its former leader following a five-hour meeting on Sunday.
Its statement on the issue said: "Tommy remains a valued member of the most dynamic team of MSPs in the Scottish Parliament.
"The executive completely dismisses the rumours that have circulated in the press that Tommy's resignation was provoked by a leadership challenge, a factional power struggle or any other form of political internal in-fighting."
The statement said the newspaper allegations were the subject of a libel action by Mr Sheridan and "consequently there can be no comment on this matter from the Scottish Socialist Party".
