Scotland's richest woman, Ann Gloag, has been made an OBE in the Birthday Honours list for her charity work.
Mrs Gloag, 61, from Scone, Perthshire, made her fortune as the co-founder of the transport firm Stagecoach, with her brother Brian Souter.
She said that the award was a "great surprise" and a great honour.
Her humanitarian work made Mrs Gloag the first overseas recipient of a prestigious award from the Texas-based Philanthropy organisation last year.
Transport empire
She had donated £4m to purchase a hospital ship for charity Mercy Ships, which provides free medical assistance and supplies to poor parts of the world.
Mrs Gloag has adopted a Kenyan boy and worked as a nurse on outreach projects in west Africa.
Mrs Gloag and her brother became Scotland's most famous entrepreneurial duo after building the Stagecoach from a one bus operation into a transport empire spanning four continents.
The firm was set up in 1980 and floated on the stockmarket in 1993, making Mrs Gloag a multi-million pound fortune.
Mrs Gloag's family was hit by tragedy in 1999 when son Jonathan, who stood to inherit much of the Stagecoach group, committed suicide at the age of 28.
In 2000, she quit her role as an executive director at Stagecoach but remained
on the board as a non-executive director.
