Speaker's chop
The Speaker's Chop was an unofficial term, first used in the nineteenth century, that described an adjournment of the House called by the Speaker in order that he may have a break for dinner.
Nowadays the Speaker can be replaced by a deputy at any time, so the term has become obsolete.
