Arrests after £500,000 drugs find

Cannabis with a street value of £500,000 has been uncovered and three men have been arrested during a cross border police operation.

A large amount of cash was also seized along with a "substantial" quantity of the Class B drug.

Two of the men were arrested in NI on Saturday while Irish police detained a third man in County Monaghan.

The PSNI said a 41-year-old man was arrested in the Lisburn area and a 27-year-old was detained in County Armagh.

They both remain in custody and are assisting police with their enquiries.

A spokesman for the police service described it as a "proactive operation" which was carried out in conjunction with the Garda National Drugs Unit.

Irish police said the man they arrested is aged in his 20s and is currently being held at Monaghan Garda station.
