Two men who escaped a house fire in Donegal said their dog may have saved their lives.

The alarm was raised at the house in Newtowncunningham on Wednesday morning.

Ciaran McGuigan, who was in the house, said they had a lucky escape.

"What woke me was the dog barking and by that time the whole place was on fire," he said.

"I managed to get out and then I went back in for Billy and he came out ok."
