Retail park planned for Waterside

Walled City sign, Derry

Plans for a new retail park near the Crescent Link on Londonderry's Waterside have been revealed.

A meeting of Derry City Council heard that a developer wants to build shops on land near Sevenoaks which had been set aside for housing.

The plan is at an early stage, and must be referred to the Planning Service.

Meanwhile developers on the Cityside are in discussions with major supermarket chains for a store at Skeoge on the Buncrana Road.

Earlier this year, Tesco replaced its plans for a 56,000 sq ft store on the Buncrana Road with a proposed development measuring 30,000 sq ft.

A final decision has not yet been taken on the store.
