Post mortem due on murder victim

Flowers outside the scene of the murder

A post mortem examination is being carried out on the body of a 30-year-old Londonderry woman who was found dead in her home.

Jean Quigley, a mother of four, was discovered in the Cornshell Fields area of the city at the weekend.

A PSNI spokesperson said detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 2200 BST on Friday and 2000 BST on Saturday.

A neighbour described Mrs Quigley as a "nice quiet girl".

"She was a nice girl, a quiet girl, but she wouldn't pass you without speaking," said Celine McLoughlin.

"Her children hang about with my two, so it's really shocking to hear it."

SDLP Councillor Shaun Gallagher, who lives in the area, said people had woken up to "complete and utter shock".

"People are just in disbelief that this kind of event can happen in their own area," he said.
