Town arsonists 'will cause death'

Scene of the latest attack

Police in Limavady have said they will soon be dealing with a murder inquiry if arson attacks in the town do not stop.

There have been almost 90 arson attacks in Limavady over the last year.

In the latest attack at Coolessan Walk, a gas cylinder was placed against a coal bunker which was then set alight.

A meeting took place between the District Policing Partnership and senior officers on Thursday to discuss the most recent incidents.

Bernard Doherty, who lives at the house where the latest attack took place, with his wife and five children, said he had been targeted before.

Mr Doherty also said he believed there was a sectarian motive behind the attack.
