Man denies six child sex offences

Bishop Street courthouse

A 27-year-old Londonderry man has appeared in court in the city, accused of indecently exposing himself to girls aged eight and nine.

Joseph McCauley, of Dunluce Court in Ballymagroarty, denied six counts of gross indecency.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in the Lenamore and Galliagh areas between November and April.

He was remanded in custody to appear again via video link at the same court on 12 June.

A police constable told the court he believed he could connect Mr McCauley to the charges.

The accused is alleged to have exposed himself to two primary school girls, aged eight and nine, on three separate occasions.

One of the alleged victims later picked out the accused in an identity parade. The court heard that another alleged victim had failed to identify him.
