Cash stolen during city bank raid

Police tape

A substantial sum of money has been stolen during an armed robbery at a bank in east Belfast.

A man wearing a baseball cap and dust mask, who was carrying a gun, entered the Cregagh Road premises at about 1120 BST on Saturday.

He threatened staff and demanded money. A sum of cash, believed to be around £20,000, was handed over and placed in a green bag the robber was carrying.

The robber, who was wearing a dark coat and jeans, left the premises on foot.
