Two die as car crashes into lorry

Newry crash scene

A man and a woman have been killed in a road accident in County Down.

It is believed the two victims were the driver and front-seat passenger of a car which hit a lorry parked on the hard shoulder. No-one was in the lorry.

It happened on the A1 Newry Road between Loughbrickland and Newry at about 1330 BST on Friday. The road is closed and a diversion is in place.

The names of the two people who were killed have not yet been released by the police.
