Light aircraft in crash landing

Aircraft crash

A light aircraft has crash landed in a field at Irvinestown, County Fermanagh.

A couple in their 60s were on board the plane when it developed engine problems. Firefighters had to cut open the plane's roof to rescue the couple.

The woman was airlifted to the Erne hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The man was not seriously injured.

They were flying from Prestwick to Galway and were stopping off at St Angelo airfield.

The crash, which happened at about 1415 BST, happened about three miles from the airfield.
