Robbers fire shot before fleeing

police car

Raiders who attempted to rob a money exchange business on the outskirts of Newry fired a shot into the ceiling.

The incident involving two men, one armed with a shotgun, took place at about 1900 BST on the Dublin Road close to the border. There were no injuries.

The men demanded cash and when staff refused to hand over any money, one man fired a shot into the ceiling before they left empty-handed.

They drove off in a white Peugeot with its registration plates covered.
