Anti-racism rally is held in city

Anti-racism supporters stood out in the rain at Belfast City Hall

A major anti-racism rally has been held in Belfast in the wake of recent attacks on migrant workers.

Following the intimidation of workers and their families from Romania, Poland and India some of them decided to leave Northern Ireland.

The rally was organised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

"We are calling for working people who live here to show a united face against those who attack migrants," said Peter Bunting from ICTU.

"It is time for a political response which addresses community cohesion, intercultural integration and builds solidarity across all sectors of our diverse society.

"We must think about shared futures to embrace all people living and working in Northern Ireland and not just in terms of the two communities."

The rally took place at Belfast City Hall.
