CCTV images examined after rape

Police are looking through CCTV images in the hunt for a man who raped a 16-year-old girl in west Belfast.

The girl was walking along the Springfield Road, at its junction with Springfield Drive, at about 2100 GMT on Monday when she was attacked by a man.

She was assaulted in an alleyway off Springfield Drive.

Police said the attacker was young, about 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a white hooded top and dark track bottoms.

Police cordoned off the area on Monday night and specially trained officers have been interviewing the young girl.

The local community has been urged to help in the investigation.

As some of the shops in the area were open at the time of the assault, detectives are hopeful that someone will have vital information.
