Police car

A gang tried to force a County Antrim man to get cash from his workplace in Belfast city centre, police have said.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, was assaulted at his home in Ballyclare, at about 0900 GMT on Wednesday.

He was confronted by three men at his home in the Ballynure Road area who demanded cash be brought from the man's workplace and assaulted him.

The gang fled empty-handed when the man refused to comply. He then raised the alarm.

Police said the victim was taken to hospital with injuries which are not life-threatening.
