Police appeal after street attack

Police patrol

A man has sustained a fractured knee in an assault in west Belfast, the police have said.

The 32-year-old was assaulted as he walked along Gortfin Street in the Springfield Road area of the city at about 0645 GMT on Saturday.

He was knocked-out and regained consciousness in an ambulance. He is being treated in hospital for his knee and other injuries.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
