A 27-year-old County Fermanagh man has been charged in connection with the seizure of six million smuggled cigarettes in England.

Customs officers in Dover discovered the haul hidden in a lorry transporting frozen food.

The driver, Ronan Hughes from Clongowan in Newtownbutler, was arrested. He was subsequently charged with duty evasion and appeared in court on Thursday.

He entered a plea of not guilty and has been released on bail.

Mr Hughes is due back in court in October.
