Two released in shooting probe

Two men questioned by police about a gun attack in north Belfast have been released without charge.

A 40-year-old man is recovering after being shot four times in the early hours of Friday morning.

Three masked men, two armed with handguns, forced their way into a house in Cranbrook Court. The man was shot in the elbow, ankle and both knees.

The victim's 10-year-old daughter and three-year-old grandson were in the house at the time.

Police said there was no evidence of paramilitary involvement.

The house in Ardoyne has been attacked before. Last March, a young girl narrowly escaped injury after a bullet pierced her bedroom window.

Officers investigating the shooting have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
