Three held as gun seized from car

Garda

Three men have been arrested and a handgun recovered by police in Dublin.

Two cars were stopped by gardai as part of an operation targeting serious crime on the Sarsfield Road in Ballyfermot at about 1545 BST on Tuesday.

The cars and their occupants were searched and a .38 calibre handgun along with four rounds of ammunition were seized.

Three men, aged 20, 23 and 31, were arrested under section 30 of The offences against the state act.

They are being questioned at Ballyfermot and Clondalkin Garda stations.
