Man remanded over sexual assault

Scales of justice

A 19-year-old man has appeared at Larne Magistrates Court charged with raping, assaulting and falsely imprisoning a 14-year-old girl.

The magistrate has prohibited his name and address being made public.

The court was told the man had been threatened by loyalist paramilitaries. A lawyer for the accused said his client denied all of the offences.

The alleged offences took place on 5 August. The accused will appear in court again on 26 August.
