Crash mother 'just wants justice'

A Londonderry mother whose son was killed in a plane crash in Thailand last year has said she "wants justice" for the 22-year-old.

Aaron Toland was one of 89 people who died when the plane crashed in bad weather at Phuket airport in September.

His friend Christopher Cooley, who was travelling with him, survived.

Aaron's mother, Anne Marie Toland, said her family's decision to take legal action is not about money but was a bid to hold the airline's owner to account.

"It's nothing to do with money, it's for other people who are going to be flying out there, going on low cost airlines and thinking they're safe when they not."

On Tuesday, it emerged that the Toland family are taking legal action against the owners of the budget airline which Aaron had been travelling with.

Lawyers acting on behalf of relatives of the 89 people who died are seeking millions of pounds in compensation in the US courts.

Ashley Harrow from Moira, County Down, also survived the crash.
