Vintage car owner slams arsonists

The owner of four vintage cars destroyed in an arson attack in County Fermanagh on Saturday night has said 20 years of work have gone up in smoke.

George Ogle and his wife were away on holiday when a van and a car were set on fire at the back of their property on the Baragh Road near Ballinamallard.

The blaze spread, causing substantial damage to a nearby garage where the vintage cars were parked.

The damage is estimated at tens of thousands of pounds.

Two Austin 16s - from 1929 and 1930 - were destroyed as well as a newly restored MG Roadster and a Mini van.

George Ogle said he could not understand why he was targeted.

"I've been at this for the last 20 or 30 years, basically restoring cars just as a hobby, for enjoyment," he said.

"You go on holiday, the place is alarmed, locked up, secure, you come back and this is what you find. It's totally ridiculous."
