Escaped prisoner back in custody

Leon Chakravarti was arrested at Downpatrick courthouse

A prisoner who escaped from police custody in County Down has been re-arrested.

Leon Chakravarti, 21, had been arrested after presenting himself at Downpatrick courthouse on Thursday.

He went unlawfully at large at about 1600 BST on Thursday and was last seen at Grove Gardens in Killyleagh.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokeswoman said Chakravarti was re-arrested by Downpatrick police just before midnight.
