Probation for sham weddings role

Seven women and a man have been put on probation for 12 months over their parts in a sham marriage scam.

The eight, all from Londonderry, agreed to marry Chinese and Nigerian people who would then apply to stay in the UK.

The scam was organised by Alexander Success, who was earlier jailed for four year at Londonderry Crown Court.

Justice Seamus Tracey agreed that Success preyed on vulnerable people and lured them into his scam with offers of several thousands of pounds.
