A donkey has died after an apparent dog attack in Ballyclare, County Antrim.
The animal was in a field off Rashee Road last Thursday when she sustained injuries to her face and throat.
A vet attended the injured animal, but she later died.
The incident is being investigated by Newtownabbey Borough Council.
In a statement the council said they had received a report that an English Bull Terrier attacked a donkey.
Staff who attended the scene identified the dog's owner and the person who was in charge of the animal at the time.
The owner has voluntarily placed the dog in kennels outside the borough.
The council said it was investigating the incident with a view to initiating legal proceedings under the provisions of the Dogs (NI) Order.
