Accident victim Emma Donnelly

A budding young artist from County Antrim has been killed in a road accident in England.

Emma Donnelly, 20, from Woodland Avenue, Lambeg, was hit by a car on Saturday after stepping off a minibus on a road between Bath and Stroud.

The youngest of nine children, she had been studying fine art at Bristol University.

Her brother, Phillip, said she was a very talented artist who had undertaken various local commissionings.

"To us she was the youngest sister, a very talented artist. She'll be very sorely missed. I'm not sure if my parents will ever get over it," he said.

"We're a very large family and nothing like this has happened. We've been lucky so far."

He said his younger sister was very amiable.

"Emma had a good affect on people," he said. "She was very friendly. That's a credit to my parents. We are a very close family."

Emma, who had five brothers and three sisters, had been on her way back from the Badminton Horse Trials, where she was working, when the accident happened. She died at the scene.

Her parents, Liam and Geraldine, have flown to England to bring back her body. A post mortem examination is due to be carried out.
