Pair remanded on deception charge

Two men have been remanded in custody on charges of deception and fraud.

It follows a major police operation in Irvinestown and Enniskillen on Monday when 10 properties were searched.

Dennis Francis McGinley, 45, of College Park Lane in Enniskillen, and Paul May, 44, of Sallyswood in Irvinestown, appeared in court.

They are both accused of obtaining 133,500 euro by deception from a man who thought he would be supplied with plant machinery.

Enniskillen Magistrates Court was told police believe there was never any machinery to supply.

Paul May is also accused of benefit fraud to the sum of £38,291 between 2001 and 2007.

The police told the court that during that time they believe Mr May's business had a turnover of £70,000.

He is also accused of defrauding an English businessman who supplied £18,000 worth of lashing belts, but is still owed £14,464.

Mr May faces an additional money laundering charge in relation to the purchase of five high-value vehicles worth £35,000 and a £14,000 van.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear again via videolink at Enniskillen next Monday.
