Schoolboy hit by lightning dies

Tallaght

A 14-year-old boy has died after he was struck by lightning in a Dublin suburb on Saturday.

Patrick Ryan Corr, 14, was walking through a green space in Tallaght on Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a bolt of lightning.

One of his neighbours saw the flash of lightning and saw him on the ground. He was taken to Tallaght Hospital.

A hospital spokesperson said Patrick never regained consciousness and died in the early hours of Sunday.
