Good Samaritan stabbed by robbers

Attack victim

A Good Samaritan stabbed by a man who claimed his car had broken down has said she is now too afraid to leave her house.

Gina Christie was hit over the head with a baseball bat then stabbed in the arm and stomach in the attack, which happened last Wednesday.

She had stopped to help the man after he flagged her down near her home in Ballynahinch, County Down.

During the attack another man searched her car for cash.

"I feel emotionally and physically sick - I wouldn't like to think of this happening to anybody else," she said.

Local UUP MLA Basil McRea, who is related to the victim, described it as "every woman's nightmare" and appealed for people to be on the alert.

"I think it really is serious - if they have done it once they will do it again," he said.
