Odyssey apologises over parking

Many people with tickets to see High School Musical on Ice were unable to get parked and some missed the start of the show.

The Odyssey said that car parking and traffic management were coping with the 20,000 expected customers as best as they could.

However, some parents said more should have been done.

One parent said: "It is madness - staging things like this and there being nowhere to park.

"They are going to have to rethink, or build a multi-storey car park.

"It is not fair on the wee ones, because they are so looking forward to it. If they had have missed any more of it they would have been gutted."

Another parent told the BBC that she and her children had missed the entire show because of the parking problems.

Wonderland, the promoters of the Disney On Ice show, said it was not responsible for car parks at the Odyssey or traffic management.

In a statement, a spokesman said: "Approximately 5,000 people attended each show today, and given that the capacity of the venue for large concerts is 10,000, we are at a loss to explaining why there was such a problem."
