Children killed in road accident

accident scene Two children and a man have died in a two-vehicle accident in Strabane, County Tyrone, police have said.

Brother and sister Eamonn, 11, and Emma Sweeney, 13, from Castlederg died along with the driver of the other vehicle, Jonathan Miller, 18, from Artigarvan.

The accident happened on Fyfin Road, near Victoria Bridge, just after 0030 GMT on Saturday.

The children's mother and brother were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact them. The road is expected to remain closed for most of the day.
