Airport boss is removed from post

Seamus Devine The manager of City of Derry Airport has been removed from his position.

Seamus Devine was temporarily suspended after an internal investigation was ordered into the airport's four-day closure last May.

He will now return to work as an air traffic controller at what is Northern Ireland's third largest airport.

It was shut down by the Civil Aviation Authority over safety concerns, including a lack of an effective bird control plan and poor runway drainage.

An independent report later covered what was described as a "damning list" of shortfalls in safety procedures.

Derry City Council, which owns the airport , said Mr Devine has been removed form his post following the conclusion of its internal investigation.
