A statue keeps an eye on preparations for the New Year's Eve gig Hundreds of people braved the elements to attend an open-air New Year's Eve concert in Belfast city centre on Monday evening.

The Rock Around the Clock event took place at the city's Customs House Square.

Among the concertgoers was Belfast Lord Mayor Jim Rodgers who said it was "a superb evening".

"Everybody thought it was outstanding. People thought it was one of the best events ever," he said.

The bill was topped by Ocean Colour Scene, a band who had a string of hits in the 1990s and still enjoy a cult following.

Local acts on stage included top DJ David Holmes, Foy Vance, Bap Kennedy and Tin Pot Operation.
