Boy, 12, killed in road collision

Peter White was struck by a car The name of the 12-year-old boy knocked down and killed outside Newtownards has been released by police.

Peter White, from Valencia Way North in Newtownards, was hit by a car on the main Belfast to Newtownards dual carriageway on Wednesday night.

Reverend Raymond Cotter, who knows the family, said his parents are devastated. "They are a very caring, loving and close-knit family," he said. Police have said they are investigating the accident.

Meanwhile, a woman is critical in the Royal Victoria Hospital after a crash in Newtownabbey.

And in Fermanagh, four people have been injured in a collision on the main Newtownbutler to Lisnaskea road.

They are understood to be stable.
