Pair escape injury in car attack

Funeral director Gerard Brown was driving his own car when it was targeted by young stone-throwers at Roden Street.

Mr Brown, said his windscreen was shattered by four bricks. He said his wife, who was with him, now refuses to travel across the Westlink.

Two people have been killed in stoning incidents on the road in recent years.

Mr Brown said his wife was "still stressed out" by the ordeal and had refused to use the Westlink again.

"The first brick didn't actually break the windscreen," he said.

"It was the other three bricks, one after another. You just seen a smash coming into the screen again.

"My wife won't go across the Westlink now. She is afraid to go across in case it gets worse and someone gets killed."

Mr Brown said the stoning continued even after police officers arrived on the scene.

"While I was talking to the police officer, a brick hit my car roof again," he said.

"It bounced off the roof and actually touched the police woman's hair."
