Two killed in separate accidents

police car A teenager has been killed in a road accident in Londonderry.

The accident happened on the Coshquin Road and was reported to police at about 1610 BST on Sunday. One man has been detained by police.

The teenager's name has not been released. Meanwhile, the man who died after a car crash in County Tyrone was 29-year-old Gareth McNamee from Ardboe.

Mr McNamee's van was in collision with a land rover on the Drum Road outside Cookstown at about 0130 BST on Sunday.

A man arrested for questioning in connection with the accident has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Police believe that a third vehicle may have been involved. They are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

So far this year, 41 people have died on Northern Ireland's roads.
