Man knocked down in hit-and-run

accident sign A man has been knocked down in a hit-and-run incident in County Londonderry.

He was walking along the Castledawson Road in Magherafelt when he was struck by a maroon Peugeot 306, according to a police spokesman.

The incident took place just before 0200 BST on Monday.

The victim, a young man, was taken to Antrim Area Hospital with head and arm injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
