Child dies in two-vehicle crash

Police accident A child has been killed and two others have been injured in a road accident in County Down.

The crash, involving two cars, happened at 1415 BST on Saturday close to Kilkeel, at Cassy Water Bridge on the Newry Road, near Cranfield turn-off.

The mother of the dead child remains critically ill in the Royal Victoria Hospital and her son is seriously ill.

Meanwhile, a man who died in a two-car crash on Moneymore Road near Cookstown was Ian Workman, 48, from Coagh.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the County Down accident to contact them.
