Man injured in NI shooting

The 42-year-old is being treated for injuries to his head and body after the attack at Bamford Park, Rasharkin, at around 2040 BST on Thursday night.

The victim answered his door to a man who then ran off.

A second man appeared with a shotgun and the victim closed the door but a shot was fired through it.

The man's injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The shooting was heard by his 15-year-old son who was in a nearby street.

Local people say the victim was able to walk to the ambulance despite his injuries.

The attackers escaped in a green Citroen towards Glarryford.

A car matching its description was found about four miles away on the Ballywater Road. It had been burned out.

Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the attack was linked to the illegal drugs trade.
