Jobs at risk as bookseller shuts

Borders

High street bookseller Borders has confirmed it plans to close its store in Swindon.

Karen Perring, the manager of the store in the town's Orbital shopping park confirmed on Monday that it would cease trading on 9 August.

Some 19 staff are listed on the company's website as being employed at the shop.

In a statement, the company said that the staff would now be entering a consultation process.

The store also houses a Starbucks and a Paperchase, although it is not yet known what will happen to staff there.

The US-based company said it would not make be making any further comment.
