The clock at the Alexander Keiller Museum at Avebury, Wiltshire, has been removed for repair, the National Trust has confirmed.
The 1768 turret timepiece on the Stables Gallery has been stuck at four o'clock for more than a year.
The clock is to be restored in Somerset at a cost of £5,700. It is hoped it will be reinstalled by Easter 2010.
The museum is named after the archaeologist and businessman, Alexander Keiller.
The museum displays a collection of models and archaeological finds relating to the Avebury Stone Circle - the results of research conducted by Mr Keiller in the 1930s.
