Police bid to ban park drinking

Police in Swindon want councillors to ban drinking in a park in a bid to crackdown on antisocial behaviour in the area.

Officers say there have been an average of six reports of bad behaviour in Faringdon Road Park each month since June 2008.

These included an assault on a cyclist, attacks on passers-by and people urinating in public.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said it was time to end such behaviour.
