Woman sexually assaulted in woods

A woman in her 70s was subjected to a serious sexual assault as she walked in woods near a Wiltshire airfield.

Police said the site at Yatesbury, close to the A4 between Cherhill and Beckhampton, was popular with dog walkers.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone in the area between 1130 and 1430 GMT on Wednesday, particularly the occupant of a white van.

The offender is described as white, 5ft 6in (1.7m) tall and aged about 30.

He has dark hair and a chubby face with designer stubble and was wearing a blue or black jacket, jeans and a black and grey striped bobble hat.

The victim also recalls him carrying a dark coloured rucksack.
