The mother of soldier Gavin Williams has laid a wreath at the barracks in Wiltshire where he died two years ago.
Pte Williams, 22, of Hengoed, Caerphilly, died at Lucknow Barracks in Tidworth on 3 July 2006.
Three non-commissioned officers (NCOs)are currently on trial at Winchester Crown Court, where they deny Pte Williams' manslaughter.
The court has heard that Pte Williams was being subjected to an informal punishment known as "beasting."
Sgt Russell Price, 45, Sgt Paul Blake, 37, and Cpl John Edwards, 32, are said to have carried out the punishment.
Pte Williams' mother, Debra Williams, left the flower near the spot where her son collapsed as he was making his way to the medical centre on 3 July 2006, when the temperature was 30C.
The court heard that Pte Williams had heatstroke and suffered a heart attack. It followed a regime of punishing physical exercise described in court as "beasting".
Pte Williams was being punished after he had spent the weekend drinking and taking drugs. The trial continues.
