Son in court over mother's murder

A man has been remanded in custody accused of murdering his elderly mother who was found battered to death in Dorset woodland.

Joyce Lovell, 84, of St Mary, Donhead, Wiltshire, was found near Compton Abbas Airfield on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination showed she died of multiple skull fractures caused by a blunt instrument.

Her son Andrew Lovell, who is 45 and from the same address, will next appear at Winchester Crown Court on Friday.
