Wheeled-bins delivered to homes

The first of 50,000 new wheeled bins have been delivered to houses and flats in south Wiltshire.

Homes in Salisbury, Laverstock and Wilton are now using grey-lidded 180-litre bins which hold the same amount of waste as three plastic bags.

Salisbury District Council said it then planned to introduce cardboard and plastic recycling bins.

"The new bins will make the refuse service safer and more secure," a council spokesman added.

All households should have their new bins delivered by June.
