Driver is jailed for 51st offence

A 35-year-old man has been jailed for eight months and banned for driving for five years for his 51st offence of driving while disqualified.

Jamie Manderson pleaded guilty before magistrates in his home town of Swindon in Wiltshire to driving while banned and without insurance on Saturday.

Magistrate Norman Ames said: "This is the worst case of driving while disqualified we have come across."

Manderson was first banned from driving in 1988 at the age of 15.

He has never had a driving licence.

Rob Ross, Manderson's solicitor, told the court: "He still has a problem with motor cars. He always will."
