Computer system could save £11m
A computer system which could save the new single Wiltshire Council up to £11m a year has been selected.
The £8m fully-integrated Logica system also promises to give managers access to better information on how the authority is performing.
Staff from the five district councils currently working in finance and human resources will transfer to a single shared services team.
The new council is due to go live in April 2009.
Jane Scott, leader of the county council, said: "This is the county council taking advantage of the most up-to-date technology to bring greater value for money for the people of Wiltshire.
"It will streamline and simplify our internal routines and contribute to the considerable financial savings the new unitary authority will bring."
